Bloom: core innovation for interior design and sustainability

“Bloom”is the new lignin-based technology created by the company’s R&D department to increase the use of natural raw materials in the core of Arpa HPL and FENIX NTM®. With Bloom, lignin technology has been introduced to significantly reduce the amount of phenol included in the resin by 50%.

It is available for a selection of 28 HPL plain colours in 3 finishes: Erre, Lucida and Kér, as well as for 4 new colors of FENIX NTM®: Giallo Kashmir, Verde Brac, Rosso Askja, Azzurro Naxos.

FENIX NTM® & NTA™ are the innovative material created for interior design applications by Arpa Industriale. The core structure is composed of paper impregnated with thermosetting resins whereas the colored external surface is made of decorative paper treated with next generation acrylic resins that are hardened and fixed with Electron Beam Curing process. The surface is extremely opaque with low light reflectivity, anti fingerprint and features a very pleasant soft touch.

The nanoparticles used for FENIX are amorphous and not crystalline, making it highly resistant to scratches, abrasion and stains thanks to the barrier effect and thermal healing of superficial micro scratches. These nanoparticles are evenly distributed and incorporated in a homogeneous way in the coating of the surface designed specifically for FENIX. After hardening of the surface coating, the nanoparticles are fully integrated and fixed inside. Both FENIX NTM & NTA are safe for contact with food as there is no evidence of substance migration from the material.

FENIX NTM & NTA can be used both for horizontal and vertical surfaces and in a very wide range of typical interior design applications, both for home and business markets: kitchens, bathrooms, as a material for worktops, coating shutters, doors and walls; hospitality, healthcare, as well as furnishings and fittings such as tables, bookcases, chairs, partitioning. They are available in a wide range of colors, sizes and thicknesses:

  • 18 colours (11 solid colours, 4 pearlescent colours & 3 metallic looks)
  • 2 panel sizes 4200×1600 mm or 3050×1300 mm
  • 4 standard thicknesses. Thin: 0,9 and 1,2 mm; Solid: 10 and 12 mm

FENIX NTM combines elegant aesthetic solutions with state-of-the-art technological performance, characteristics of its unique non-porous external layer are:

  • super matt surface, low light reflectivity
  • anti-fingerprints, soft touch
  • thermal healing of superficial micro-scratches
  • resistance to dry heat, scratches and abrasion
  • high resistance to acid solvents and household reagents
  • enhanced anti-bacterial properties
